If you are someone who has ever wished to have a bed made for a king, you can walk into a mattress and bedding store and purchase the largest of the standard size mattresses: the king size mattress. A king size mattress is the largest mattress you can purchase before you get into the special orders for a giant mattress.

A king size mattress can truly make you feel like a king if you place it on a standard king size bed frame because the thickness makes it a tall bed. Like most standard mattresses, a king size mattress can be made with four main styles of support. These would include air chambers, inner springs, foam and water. Depending on your location, there are different sizes to choose from, as well. Overall, there are four common king size mattress types. A regular king size mattress can have three different dimensions. In the United States and Canada, a king size mattress measures 76 inches wide by 80 inches long. In Europe, the same bed is made with the dimensions of 60 inches wide by 75 inches long. In Asia and the rest of the world, a standard king size mattress is 72 inches wide by 78 inches long.

Another option only in the U.S. and Canada is a California king mattress. A California king measures 72 inches wide by 84 inches long. Also available only in the U.S. and Canada is a grand king. A grand king mattress measures 80 inches wide by 98 inches long. Due to its size, a grand king is definitely worthy of its name, measuring in at the largest of all king size mattresses.

The largest king size mattress in Europe is called a super king. A super king sports the same measurements as a regular king size mattress in Asia with a width of 72 inches and length of 78 inches. An individual in the United States looking for a king size mattress will probably only find a king, a California king and a grand king on the display room floor of a mattress store.

King size mattresses are particularly convenient for people who are tall or for someone looking for comfort and thickness. The king size mattress is also a nice choice for durability. The thickness of the mattress helps keep it one of the longest lasting of mattresses. Of course, the size is what truly makes it "fit for a king".

can't possibly be 1200 thread count

I've had 1200 thread count sheets before and these are nothing like that. High thread count is generally a very canvas-like, thicker fabric that becomes softer over time and with each wash.

These were very thin and see-through the moment we got them. Decided to give them a try. In under 3 weeks they developed lint-like tiny balls of gathered fabric. They are extremely uncomfortable and no telling how soon they'll wear through all together.
First wash was when we initially put them on the bed. They came out ok, very soft which is not typical of the 1st wash of 1200 thread count sheets.
The second was was a few days ago. They came out horribly itchy and uncomfortable to sleep in.

I don't know what they sent, but the product does not match the description at all and can't possibly be 1200 thread count sheets.

Not 1200 Thread Count

I got these in the mail yesterday, the box was so light I should have had a clue, it said on the package feels like 1200 thread count, there is no thread count on the sheets at all, very thin, maybe they will be good for warm weather we will see. I gave them one star because they are king size sheets!

These sheets are junk! Do not order them. I received mine damaged. I also order two sets because I wanted four pillow cases and they do not match! Run and do not waste your money.
